Motorboat Operator Certification

This past spring, I completed the Department of the Interior Motorboat Operator Certification Course (MOCC) at Harbor Branch. The five-day training combined classroom instruction with hands-on experience, covering boating safety, navigation, emergency procedures, and vessel operation.

In addition to earning my motorboat operator certification, I also became certified in CPR and DAN First Aid through the Divers Alert Network (DAN). These certifications provide essential training for responding to medical emergencies in both field and diving environments.

As a marine scientist, safety is a critical component of fieldwork. These certifications have strengthened my ability to work responsibly in Florida’s coastal waters while supporting research and conservation efforts.
