Women in Ecosystem Conservation

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending the Women in Conservation Breakfast at the Manatee Lagoon in Rivieria Beach FL, hosted by the Everglades Foundation. The Everglades here in South Florida functions as a critical freshwater system supplying drinking water to nearly 1 in 3 Floridians, naturally filtering pollutants, and supporting thousands of species across 3 million acres. Protecting the Everglades is ESSENTIAL for maintaining water quality, public health, and the stability of Florida’s economy.

Hearing from these incredible women in conservation spanning science, policy, and advocacy, reinforced that prioritizing the Everglades in decision making is key to both sustaining both ecosystem function and the communities that depend on it.
